The series of “Making Roots” workshops implemented by Italea Basilicata as part of the Roots Tourism project desired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, funded by the European Union and in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, continues. Italea Basilicata is the Lucanian declination of Italea’s national project, managed by the company Paesi e Radici, winner of Maeci’s call for regional activities on tourism of origins.
Among the activities to be carried out is the enhancement, storytelling and promotion of the Basilicata destination addressed to Lucanians around the world through a number of events in the area in collaboration with local organizations, the Territorial Promotion Agency (APT), institutions and the production system to reconnect with Italian-descendants and strengthen the tourism offer to them.
After Oppido Lucano, Colobraro, and Maratea, tomorrow, July 14, it will be the turn of Savoia di Lucania, in whose Town Hall square, at 6:30 p.m., the event will open with greetings d by Mayor Rocco Mastroberti and City Councilwoman Jessica Salvia. They will be joined by Giovanni Ricciardi, vice-president Proloco “Salviamo,” Elvira De Giacomo, regional coordinator Roots Tourism for MAECI, Luigi Scaglione of the Center for International Studies Lucanians in the World and APT Basilicata director Antonio Nicoletti.
Michele Cappiello, president of Paesi e Radici and head of the Italea Basilicata group, Valeria Capobianco for the Basilicata Project, and pharmacist and phytotherapist Doriano Parrella will speak at the debate.
An intervention also directly linked to the craft workshop that tomorrow, as is customary in the “Making Roots” cycle, which will be set up during the event and which will produce bunches of sage, a typical production of the local tradition and whose properties will be discussed during workshops, provided to the Basilicatё project for installations scheduled in various initiatives abroad.
During the proceedings, coordinated by Vice President Countries and Roots Annalisa Romeo, web links with Salvian emigrants around the world are planned. Finally, the event will conclude with local product tasting in the company of the folk group “I Salviani”
