The International Gathering of Anthropological Masks returns to Tricarico on May 31 and June 1, 2025.
The 2025 edition with more and more masks from all over the world: Bolivia, Portugal, Bulgaria, Spain, Romania and Africa will alternate with groups from the Italian regions in a mosaic of rituals, rhythms, identities and worldviews. Parading will be diversity, stories passed down, archaic sounds and the collective memory of peoples who still believe in the power of ritual.
A rich program will enliven Tricarico over the two days.
Saturday, May 31:
- Mural dedicated to Scotellaro
- Immersive exhibition “Sud è Magia” curated by Kalura Meridionalism
- The Street of Artists, with fire, bubble and aerial fabric performances
- Photo projection on the facade of the Palazzo Ducale
- “Sorsi e Morsi”, the food and wine trail combining food and tradition
- Concert by Bandabardò, followed by performance by “Il Ristretto” and followed by DJ Set – RIMA Party
Sunday, June 1:
- “Carnevalando per il mondo,” theatrical performance for families and schools (Bella School Institute)
- Two performances by the Power Drum Band, an ensemble of 14 percussionists who will give energy and rhythm to the day
- “Trame d’Epoca,” the historical procession of 131 Lucanian costumes, anticipating the arrival of the masks
- From 5:30 p.m., the parade of groups along Regina Margherita Avenue
- SISMA by Guido Gioioso
- Concert by Rione Junno and grand finale with DJ set
