Lucania emigrata is the event of the Municipality of Viggianello to be held on August 16, 2024 and divided into two moments:
– A conference on Roots Tourism and the analysis of migratory flows in Viggianello and Basilicata will be held in the afternoon. Experts and the Study Center of Lucanians in the World will be present. It will also be an opportunity to hear testimonies of emigrants returning to their native land.
– In the evening there will be a musical and theatrical performance by artist “Peppe Voltarelli,” who has already won two “Tenco awards” and will perform a show totally related to migratory flows, the recovery of roots and the link to the land of origin.
Music, notes and sounds that interchange directly reach each person’s mind and heart. Nothing more than this can convey and awaken in the Lucanian abroad the desire to feel at home and to be able to return to their homeland. This is the essence of the “Lucania Emigrata” project, which tries to reach all the thousands of Lucanians around the world, arousing a strong sense of identity and belonging in the citizen far from his or her place of origin.
