Easter is an intense period of events and processions that have remained etched in the memories of those who have left.

Vietri di Potenza celebrates the 46th edition of the “Passion of Jesus Christ” in a perfect location, at twilight with a cliff of about a hundred meters for the Crucifixion, with the old part of the town in the background, and with about a hundred actors who attract many visitors to the village every year for the representation of “The Passion of Christ”.

A living representation that is recognized as one of the most beautiful and well-attended in Lucania.

On Holy Thursday, March 28, 2024, starting from 7:00 PM in Piazza del Popolo, there will be the Last Supper with the twelve apostles, Prayer and Agony in the Gethsemane, Arrest of Jesus, and the Denial of Peter. On Good Friday, March 29, 2024, the highly anticipated representations will begin at 5:30 PM in Piazza del Popolo. In order, there will be staged the Trial of Jesus before Caiaphas, the Appearance of Jesus before Herod, the Trial before the procurator Pontius Pilate, the Flagellation, and the Condemnation to death. Then, still from Piazza del Popolo, the historic Via Crucis will begin, crossing the main streets and alleys of the town center, until reaching the bridge connecting the town center to Santa Domenica. Here, at twilight and with unique and special scenery, and near a cliff of about 100 meters, the scene of the Crucifixion will take place, followed by the Weeping of the Virgin Mary and the Pieta. Following that, there will be the procession with the Dead Christ and the Sorrowful Madonna.

The traditional Easter awaits you in Vietri di Potenza.
