The experience
The installations of the “In Viaggio in Basilicata” Museum offer you the opportunity to embark on a journey within a journey, comparing our current experience with the inspirations lived by the writer Cesare Malpica during his Lucanian journey in 1847. This journey inspired his volume “La Basilicata, Impressioni” and led him, among other places, to San Mauro Forte as a guest of Baron Francesco Arcieri.
The reception area of the San Mauro Forte multimedia museum occupies the service rooms and the inner courtyard of the eighteenth-century Palazzo Arcieri Bitonti, covering a total area of approximately 300 square meters.
The visitor’s path unfolds between the old stable, which still retains its original appearance, and the adjacent room, likely originally intended as a carriage shed. The adjacent courtyard hosts concerts, events, and various cultural activities.
